Funeral Services for Edgar William Carlyon, 90, of Junction City will be 10 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2006 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Rick Marrs Officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Carlyon passed away, March 13, 2006 at Geary Community Hospital. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue. Edgar was born February 10, 1916 in Geary County, KS the son of William Edgar John and Ida (Luthi) Carlyon. Edgar spent his entire life as a Geary county resident where he enjoyed farming as well as working for the COOP Association in Junction City.
Edgar married Opal Helen Moyer at the home of John and Lena Moyer on February 10, 1937. Edgar joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church that same year. Edgar and Opal continued to farm and raise a family in rural Geary County, recently celebrating 69 years of marriage together.
Edgar is survived by his wife Opal of the home, a brother Raymond Carlyon of Junction City, a son John Carlyon of Junction City, two grandchildren, John Scott Carlyon of Junction City and Robin Sayler of Lecompton, KS, five great-grandchildren; Michele, Michael, and Andrew Carlyon of Junction City and Anthony and Amira Sayler of Lecompton, KS.
Musicians will be Cynthia Carlyon, Organist and Anthony Sayler, Vocalist
Pallbearers will be Skip Sayler, John Moyer, Wayne Pearson, Larry Garland, John S. Carlyon and Michael Carlyon.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Melvin Howard, Ralph Strauss, Bernard Rosey, Andrew Carlyon, Amira Sayler and Michele Carlyon.
