Earl M. Brown

Earl Morgan Brown, 89, was called to be with our Lord and Savior on January 7, 2013.

He was born to William Clifford Brown and Bertha (Morgan) Brown on August 7, 1923.

Growing up on a farm on Humboldt Creek, he was an outstanding
member of 4-H. Earl had many state championships with showing and judging beef and dairy cattle, exhibiting sorghum and corn. He had a flare for fashion winning the title of best dressed boy at the 1943 state fair. He also held many state leadership roles. Earl also excelled in football and baseball at Alta Vista High School.

He taught two years at Moss Springs Country School. As a young farmer/ rancher he received many awards for his progressive soil conservation farming practices. He ran a cow / calf operation and raised and trained horses for twenty years. He then sold his ranch and moved to town where he became an insurance agent and successful realtor-broker. He served on the Kansas State Board of Realtors for 6 years.

Becoming an auctioneer, he established a popular and successful Auctioneer business, was elected president of the Kansas Auctioneer Association in 1981 to 1982 and was honored by being selected into both the Kansas and National Auctioneers Hall of Fame. Earl was an active member of the Junction City United Methodist Church for 45 years. Earl was a member of the Dwight Masonic Lodge # 374, the Valley of Salina, Orient of Kansas Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, ISIS Shrine Temple, Salina, Kansas, and Royal Order of Jesters Court 94, Salina, KS.

In June 1945 he married Virginia Simonton. To this union three children were born, Janet (Harv) Erickson, Jay Brown, and Joleen (Phil) Zivnuska. In 2002 he married Ruth Simonton-Keeler. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Sister Marietta, Wife Virginia, and Daughter Janet.

He is survived by his Wife Ruth, his Brother Bill, Son Jay, Daughter Joleen, Grandsons Kevin (Angela) Erickson, Jason (Lori) Brown, Justin Brown and Hannah, and Zach Zivnuska. Granddaughters Krista (Nathan) Zachor, and Jessica Zivnuska. Great Grandsons Cody Brown and Will Zachor, Great Grand Daughters Annika and Ashley Zachor, Kaycee Brown, and two on the way, many beloved Nephews, Nieces and Cousins.

Memorial Services will be held at the Junction City United Methodist Church at 2pm on January 18, 2013. Private inurnment will take place at the Welcome Cemetery.
