Earl R. Johnson, 91, of Junction City, KS died December 10, 2019 at Valley View Senior Life Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Thursday, December 19, 2019 at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Gnanaskekar Kulandai officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 5 pm to 7 pm with Rosary service at 6:30 pm. Memorial Contributions have been designated to St. Xavier Catholic Church, 218 N. Washington Street, Junction City, KS 66441 and the Geary County 4H Foundation, P.O. Box 28, Junction City, KS 66441
Earl was born May 14, 1928, Concordia, KS to Carl W. and Edith (Olson) Johnson. He graduated from Concordia High School in 1947. Earl was in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954 he then joined and was employed by the Kansas National Guard in Concordia. Earl was transferred to Junction City and worked full time with the Kansas National Guard retiring in 1974. He then worked with Government contracts on Fort Riley from 1974 to 1992.
Earl was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #830 for 65 years and a 60 year member of the American Legion, a member of the Kansas State Twins Association and active with the 4/H Senior Center where he served on several boards and delivered Meals-On-Wheels for 10 years. Earl was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church.
Earl married the love of his life Goldie Marcotte on November 27, 1954, Salina, KS she preceded him in death February 18, 2017.
Earl's greatest joys were spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing and watching Kansas State Football and Kansas City Chiefs..
He is survived by three children, Douglas (Pat) Johnson of Wichita, KS; Ronald (Tracey) Johnson of Junction City, KS; Rhonda (Dale) Evans of Junction City, KS, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; Son-in-Law, Geoffrey Houser of Junction City, KS many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Donna Houser, two brothers, Paul Johnson and Carl Johnson, two sisters, Mabel Ostrom and twin sister Pearl Ganstrom and two great-grandsons.
