Services for Earl F. Hayter, 91, formerly of Junction City, KS will be Thursday, August 25, 2005, 2 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel with Reverend Paul Wolf officiating. Visitation will be Wed. August 24, 2005, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Enterprise, KS with full military honors. Mr. Hayter passed away on August 20, 2005 at Friendship Manor, Pratt, KS. Monetary donations may be given to the family (Edwin F. Hayter) for donation to the U S Army. Donations may be mailed to Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, P.O. Box 826, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mr. Hayter was born March 31, 1914, Los Angeles, CA to Ruby B. and Lillian M. (Brandt) Peasley. He served with the US 2nd Calvary, Headquarters Troop from 1932 to 1940, then with the US Army 75th Division WWII "Battle of the Bulge" from 1940 to 1946 and with the USAF from 1946 to 1963 retiring as a Master Sergeant. He had been a resident of Junction City, KS until 2003. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0207, Ogden, KS, Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge Association, American Diabetes Association, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Junction City, KS, AFGE District #09, American Bowling Congress and the 75th Division Veterans Association.
He married Vergene E. Rutz on June 1, 1937 Junction City, KS, she survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Earl E. Hayter and wife Carol of Manford, OK and Edwin F. Hayter and wife Gayle of Pratt, KS, one brother, Roy M. Hayter of Coeur d' Alene, ID, one sister, Dorothy L. Ratliff of St. Joseph, MO, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Earl E. Hayter, Edwin F. Hayter, Earl A. Hayter, Jason B. Hayter, Jeremy Deer and Henry Rutz.
