Dulcye May Jensen Haslett, of Junction City, passed peacefully into the arms of God October 3, 2018. She was living at her daughter's home when she was called home to heaven. She was 95.
She was born on a farm in Smith County, Kansas, January 28, 1923. She was the youngest of seven children born to Theodore and Bessie (Strong) Jensen. She graduated from Kensington High School and later moved to Junction City where she worked as a legal secretary for Howard Harper. She married the love of her life, Glen Haslett, on June 6, 1948. They had three children, Michael (Pamela) Haslett of Gardner, KS, Roxanna (Kenneth) Johnston of Junction City, KS and Lisa (Kim) Bell of Burlingame, KS.
Dulcye met her husband at a piano concert at the First Christian Church. She was a member of the church for 75 years. She taught Sunday School and was a member of several organizations at the church and in the community. She enjoyed watching college basketball and Royals baseball, and seeing her grandchildren play tennis, baseball, football, and serving her Lord.
The funeral service for Mrs. Haslett will be Monday, October 8, 2018 at the First Christian Church at 10:30 am. Calling hours will be held Sunday evening from 7-8:30 pm a the First Christian Church.
Survivors include her children; grandchildren: Melisa (Jason Burgess, Shelli (Vincent) Cammisa, Zacariah (fiance Emilie Rowe) Burt, Rockne Burt, Faith DuRae Burt. Step-grandchildren: Jeffrey Cunningham, Jamie Cunningham, Chad Bell, Ryan Bell, Jennifer Childress. Great-grandchildren: Kaden Burgess, Kinsey Burgess, Shianne Cammisa. Two Sisters: Juanita Robinson of Beloit, KS and June Wiehl of Junction City, KS. Two sisters-in-law: Evelyn Webb of Wamego, KS, and Jennifer Haslett of Manhattan, KS, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and step family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings: Freida, Lovella, Harold and Birdie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the First Christian Church in Dulcye's name.
