Funeral services for Duane R. Sutter, 80, formerly of Junction City will be
1 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel with Reverend Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS with Reverend James Byers officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Surrounded by his loving family Mr. Sutter passed away April 15, 2008 at the Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park, KS. Memorial contributions may be given in Mr. Sutter's name to an organization of donor's choice.
Duane was born May 15, 1927 to Walter and Nancy (Davidson) Sutter in Junction City, KS.
He married LaVon Doberer, June 5, 1949, in Clay Center, KS. Duane moved his family to Junction City in 1968 from their farm in Dwight, KS. He owned Bowles and Chase Plumbing in JC where he worked for many years before retiring to Overland Park, KS to be near his children. Duane was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post #830 of Junction City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, Velma Bisel, Viola Schaulis, Vineta Dodds, Alice Adams, Norma Schmanke, Opal Gaston, a brother Walter Sutter, and two son-in-laws, William G. Matthews and Arnie Schlossberg.
Duane is survived by his wife LaVon of the home and 3 daughters; Connie Tiesing, Jolene Schlossberg, and Vickie Taylor all of the Kansas City area, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a sister, Erma Kummer of Junction City.
Pallbearers will be Walter Sutter, Richard Sutter, Mike Nester, Eric Underwood, William Schlossberg and Jack Messer
Honorary Pallbearers will be Russell Gaston and Robert Gaston
Musicians will be Rick Munson, Vocalist and Ramona Printz-Smith, Organist
