Graveside services for Dr. Walter Lynn McKim, Colonel (Ret) will be 11:00am Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Milford Cemetery with Rev. Joe Belardo and Pastor Steward Smith officiating. No visitation is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to Geary Community Hospice and Healthcare Foundation, PO Box 3015, Junction City, Ks 66441.

Mr. McKim was born December. 20, 1933 in Lenora, Ks the son of David Lawrence and Edna (Stevens) McKim. He was a graduate of Frankfort High School in 1951, Kansas State University in 1955 and Kansas University in 1959. He was a retired Colonel in the United States Army (Flight Surgeon 89th ARCOM, also a physician in Kinsley, KS and Fort Riley, KS. "Lynn" helped organize KONZA Prairie Community Health Center, Junction City, KS. He was a member of the Shrine, Modern Woodmen of America, Life member of the American Legion, Honorary Life Member of the VFW and a complimentary Mason member of Frankfort, KS. Walter was a longtime community member and volunteer in Milford, KS.

Walter married Verna Schwartz April 2, 1981, she survives at the home. Other survivors include three sons, David and wife Jill, Steve and Dan; one daughter, Karen; seven grandchildren- Jessie, Davlyn, Alex, Brooke, Shelby, Christian and Keath.


He was preceded in death by his parents David and Edna McKim and a sister Sharon Eugenia McKim.


Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
