Douglas Sherraden

February 8, 1953 — September 2, 2020

Douglas "Doug" Wayne Sherraden, age 67, passed away on September 2, 2020 at his home in Junction City, KS, surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 8, 1953 in Junction City, KS to Arthur and Pauline Sherraden. He was the fifth of six children.

Doug attended Junction City Schools and graduated from Manhattan Technical College Welding Program in 1971. Upon graduation, Doug began a lifelong career in welding and fabrication.

Doug was a very skilled and hard worker and during his career he built many things from large utility trailers to steel fire escapes, and wrought iron fences, many of which are still seen around Junction City. Doug was a person who would help anyone. He enjoyed working on older cars and race cars, and watching car races and watching Gunsmoke and old westerns. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing sports and going to his granddaughters dance recitals.

Doug could describe in an instant what he would do if he won the lottery, and was known to cut a rug on occasion, with his unique dancing style that blended the Irish River Dance and The Beverly Hillbillies. His family will tell you he was the hardest working man, and even while fighting a long battle with lung cancer, he only wanted to get back to work.

Doug married Gabriela Williams on October 21, 1972 she survives of the home.

He is also survived by two Sons; Brewster Sherraden of Chapman, KS, Nathan Sherraden of Junction City, KS and two daughters; Patricia Ruiz of Alma, KS and Lacey Kehoe (Brandon) of Junction City, KS, one sister; Joyce Mason (Ron) of Lenexa, KS, four brothers; Gerald Sherraden (Bettye) of Ward, AR, Ronald Sherraden (Cecilia)of Garden City, KS, and Larry Sherraden (Chung) of Lawrence, KS, eight grandchildren; Donovan (Bria)Sherraden of Kansas City, MO, Daniel Sherraden of Manhattan, KS, Taylor Hoffman of Topeka, KS, Matthew Sherraden of Manhattan, KS, Rose Brady, Reagan and Weston Kehoe of Junction City, KS, and Aiden Ruiz of Alma, KS, two great-grandchildren; Logan Wehrheim of Junction City, KS and Elliott Sherraden of Kansas City, KS, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Henry Il and Pauline Bernice (Hamilton Sherraden, brother Patrick Sherraden, and son-in-law Thomas Hoffman.

The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and Accord Hospice for the tireless care they provided.
