Douglas Bowers
May 11, 1949 — January 5, 2016
Douglas "Doug" W. Bowers, 66, of Junction City, passed away on January 5, 2016 at Stoneybrook Retirement Community. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2016 with Pastor Brad Seifert officiating at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Visitation with the family will be at 1:00 p.m. until time of the service.
He was born on May 11, 1949, Junction City, Kansas to Raymond and Luella (Henry) Bowers. Doug was a graduate of Junction City High School. He was self-employed for many years doing carpentry and remodeling work. Doug was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed golf, baseball, football and Nascar. He always appreciated making people smile.
On December 31, 1991 he married Shirley Yonning she survives of the home.
Doug is also survived by his son, Todd Bowers (Allianna) of Westmoreland, KS; his stepsons,Jeff Skym (Jen) of McKinney, TX and James Thrasher (Shelly) of Junction City, KS; his brother, Dennis Bowers (Jan) of Safety Harbor, FL and his sister, Karen Jordan of Manteca, CA; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
