A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy M. Larrick, 94, of Junction City, KS will be Wednesday, January 25, 2006, 10 a.m. at the St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 24, 2006, 6-7p.m. with vigil service to be held at 7 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington. Burial will be held at the Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Miss Larrick passed away January 19, 2006 at Mercy Health Center, Manhattan, KS. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Xavier Catholic Church, P.O. Box 399, Junction City, KS 66441.
Ms. Larrick was born March 7, 1911, Edgerton, KS to John and Anna (Dwyer) Larrick. She was valedictorian of her class and a graduate of George Washington University where she received a degree in Political Science. She moved to Washington D.C. in the 1940's and worked as the assistant director of the budget. She traveled after World War II, interviewing POW's and displaced persons returning to their native homes from USSR.She never married, she was a role model on how to make herself happy.She retired from Air Force Intelligence in 1968 then resided in Kansas City, MO until 1981 when she moved to Atlanta, GA until 1993, she then moved to Junction City.
She is survived by two nephews, Mike Meehan of Fl., and J.W. Larrick of Olathe, KS, three great nephews, Tim Cowan of Junction City, KS, Sean Cowan of Harrisburg, PA and Steve Cowan of Overland Park, KS, two nieces, Mary Janice Short of Columbia, MO, and Jolene (Larrick) Brown of Olathe, KS, one great-niece, Sally Rivera of Junction City, KS.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Larrick, three sisters, Mary Larrick 9/9/1969, Geraldine Grant 1/1980 and Katherine Meehan 1/17/2000, one niece, Kingie Cowan 1/16/2004.
Pallbearers will be Joe Cowan, Steve Cowan, Tim Cowan, Matthew Meehan, Mike Meehan, Frank Rivera
