Memorial services for Dorothy Mildred Gustafson, 82, Junction City will be at 1 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2007 at the Church of Latter Day Saints, 1705 McFarland, Junction City, KS with Bishop Ted Freeman officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Palmers Cemetery, French River, MN. Mrs. Gustafson passed away January 8, 2007 at the Golden Living Center, Wakefield, KS. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m.-1p.m. at the Church before the memorial service. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be given to the Golden Living Center, 509 Grove Street, Wakefield, KS 67487 and or Friends of Animals, P.O. Box 580, Junction City, KS 66441.
Dorothy was born July 16, 1924 at Herman Township, MN the daughter of Gustave and Elizabeth (Simonson) Johnson. She graduated from Hermantown High School in 1943. Upon completing her LPN training she worked for the Long Beach Community Hospital in CA and returned home at the death of her father in 1950.
She married Olaf Florentine Gustafson on January 30, 1951 at Duluth, MN and they resided at French River, MN. In 1970 she returned to nursing and upon retirement moved to Junction City, KS in 1987.
She was an active member of the Church of Latter Day Saints; American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 45; and volunteered at Westwood Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband Olaf on May 14, 1979 and her sister, June Margaret Gustafson (Johnson) in Emily, MN in November of 2006.
Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Lisa M. and son-in-law Aurelio (Joe) Belardo, of the home and one son, Joseph K. Gustafson and wife Kelly of Auburn, WA. Two grandson's Patrick James and Anthony Michael Belardo, Junction City, KS.
