Dorothy Jeane Huey, 93, of Junction City, Kansas, went to her final earthly sleep in her home the night of August 20, 2016, and awoke to her heavenly home surrounded by her eternal family and friends in the early morning hours of August 21, 2016. Visitation will take place 5-7 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2016, at the Junction City First United Methodist Church. A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the Junction City First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Dyton L. Owen officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions have been established at her beloved Junction City First United Methodist Church and Wheels of Hope for her strong belief and demonstration of helping others. Both are located at 804 N. Jefferson St. Also the Friends of Animals, P.O.Box 580 in Junction City, Kansas, for her love of animals.
She was born on October 20, 1922, in Belvue, Kansas, the daughter of Clayton and Marguerite (Kessler) Keener. She attended grade school in Belvue and graduated from Wamego High School with the class of 1940.
Jeane married the boy across the street, who was the love of her life, Vincent Huey, on December 13, 1942, in Manhattan, Kansas. They were married for over 62 years before he passed away on March 29, 2005.
In addition to being an amazing mother and wife, Jeane was a successful Avon representative for almost 50 years. This enabled her to make many life long friends and enjoy a fulfilling career. She and her husband Vince were also Hospice volunteers for nearly 20 years. Jeane was also a Scout leader for each of her daughters, was active in her church and served in various volunteer capacities within the community of Junction City, where she and Vincent began their lives together in 1945.
Jeane is survived by her two loving daughters, Peggy Bennett and her husband Ben, and Phyllis Gibson and her husband Buck both of Junction City, Kansas; one sister, Phyllis Haynes of Abilene, Kansas, and a host of nieces and nephews as well as many treasured friends.
In addition to her husband Vincent, she was preceded in death by parents, Clayton and Marguerite Keener; father-in-law and mother-in-law Vin and Virgie Huey; one brother, George Clayton (LaVera) Keener; three sisters, Helen (Fritz) Huntsman, Mildred Chipman and Anne (Jim) Lindholm; one sister-in-law Olive (Charles) Ramsey; three brother-in-laws, Rock Haynes, Fred (Frances) Lippincott and Lloyd (Lena) Lippincott.
