Dorothy H. Garanson

Funeral Services for Dorothy Henrietta Garanson, 91, of Dwight, KS will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Alta Vista, KS with Reverend Larry Brakenhoff officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Junction City, KS. Mrs. Garanson passed away May 6, 2005 at Geary Community Hospital. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alta Vista.

Dorothy was born April 4, 1914 in Dallas, SD the daughter of Reverend John J. and Hannah L. (Carlberg) Richard. She graduated from Bethany College with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Dorothy taught school in rural Geary county at the Rosey and Antelope schools. She also taught at Belleville and Newton, KS. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

She was married to Clifford E. Garanson at Marion Hill Lutheran Church December 25, 1948. He preceded her in death November 3, 2002.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Sonja Welch, Salina, KS; son John E. Garanson, Dwight, KS, and 3 grandchildren Eric Welch of Manhattan KS, Emily Welch and Tim Welch of Lawrence, KS

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Linnea Nelson and a brother Roland Richard.

Organist will be Vida Zimmerman.

Pallbearers will be Roger Brown, James Furney, Terry Eisenhut, Clyde Oesterhaus, Tim Welch and Dale Peterson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Welch, Richard Nelson, Stephen Richard and Jon Nelson.
