Dorothy "Peggy" Geringer, 77, of Junction City, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2011 in her home. We believe she left to say "Happy Birthday" to her sister and best friend Sally. She was surrounded by people she loved as she took her last breath.
Peggy was born on November 29, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born to Roscoe and Marie Thompson. She had 8 siblings: Earl Thompson, Ray Thompson, Mike Thompson, Jerry Thompson, Carl Thompson, Judy Tannehill, Sally Cornish, and Ralph Thompson.
On August 13, 1955 she married Gerald Geringer in St. Louis, Missouri. Together they had five children.
Peggy worked as a legal secretary for a law firm and was a homemaker. In her later years, she was actively involved with Lady Troopers and baked thousands of cookies for soldiers. We believe her to be a Proverbs 31 woman.
She was survived by her loving husband Gerald Geringer, children Gary Geringer and wife Jan, Terry Butler and husband Nathan, Tammy Robinett and husband Greg, Randy Geringer, Stacy Schulte, grandchildren Garrett Geringer, Jeremy Antenen, Katie Geringer, Jason Butler and wife Casey, Sarah Geringer, Michael Schad, Ryan Butler and wife Rebecca, Megan Butler, Alexis Schulte, Nicholas Schulte, and great-grandchild Maddox Butler.
She was predeceased by her parents Roscoe and Marie Thompson, as well as siblings Sally Cornish, Earl Thompson, Ray Thompson, Ralph Thompson, and Carl Thompson.
Pallbearers are Garrett Geringer, Ryan Butler, Jason Butler, Michael Schad, Jeremy Antenen, and Randy Geringer.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 5, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Xavier's Church. Father Al Brungardt will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street from 6-8 p.m. with a prayer vigil to be held at 7:30 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions go to the Geary Community Schools Foundation, 123 Eisenhower Drive, Junction City, KS 66441, this organization provides scholarships to students who are pursuing a degree in the health care field.
