Dorothy E. Day

Dorothy E. Day of Junction City, KS, 83, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at St Francis Via Christi in Wichita, KS. Funeral service will be held at 2PM Friday, January 16th, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington, Junction City, KS. The Rev. Jerry Rankin will be officiating. Visitation will be 1PM preceding the memorial service. Memorial contributions in Dorothy's name may be left or sent in care of the funeral home. All are welcome to join Dorothy's family in the funeral chapel for fellowship.

Dorothy Elizabeth (Ucker) Day was born in Dickinson County on June 6th, 1925. After graduating High School in Wichita she was employed as a secretary with Boeing Aircraft. She married Robert Day on August 22nd, 1946. They settled in Junction City on 14th Street were they had 6 children, 1 daughter Penelope Ann and 5 boys, Karl Robert, George Randolph, Walter Earl, John David and Thomas Leonard. Then they relocated to 4th street where 3 more children were born. Barbara Jeanne, Norman Lynn and Margaret Elizabeth.

Dorothy and Robert were co-owners of Chase Electric located on 7th Street in Junction City. After retiring in the 80's Dorothy was employed at UMB Bank in Manhattan for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Earl & Norma Ucker, her husband Robert and daughter Margaret Elizabeth.

She is survived by daughter Penny and husband Fred Gullett of Great Bend, son Karl and wife Merri Day of Abilene, son Randy and wife Virginia Day, sons Walter, John and wife Avis, Tom & Norman and daughter Barbara all of Junction City. 11 grandchildren, Jonathan Gullett, Amer Reese, Amber Golden, Jeffery, Joey, Elizabeth Day, Tammy, Brian & Eric Morgan, Thomas Lamparillo, Kristopher Day along with 15 great grandchildren and many beloved extended family members.
