A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 22, 2008, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel for Dorothy D. Peterson, 88, Junction City. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery. Pastor James Callaway will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church 624 N. Jefferson Street Junction City, Kansas 66441.
Dorothy Peterson was born January 8, 1920, in Junction City, Kansas the daughter of William Edgar and Mary D. (Ashley) Bryant. Dorothy has resided in Junction City her entire life.
Dorothy worked for Dr. H.L. Bunker, Sr. as a dental assistant. She later worked for Dillon's Grocery Store in the produce department until her retirement. She graduated from Junction City High School in 1937. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was very active teaching sunday school and various women's organizations.
She married Harry James Peterson September 17, 1939. He passed away January 13, 1988.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Survivors include one son, Larry E. Peterson and his wife Debby of Chapman, Kansas. She is survived by one brother, Delbert E. Bryant of Junction City, Kansas. She is survived by two granddaughters and eight great grandchildren.
