Dorothy J. Cassity, 89, formerly of Junction City, died on April 15, 2012 in Independence, MO. A visitation will be held from 6p.m. - 8p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue. Funeral services will be held at 1p.m., Friday, April 20, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, 113 W. 5th Street, Junction City, KS with Pastor Matthew Glasgow officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Crossroads Hospice, 9237 Ward Parkway, Ste. 300, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Dorothy was born on August 21, 1922 to Arthur D. and Maude Sarah(Gifford) Jellison in Luray, Kansas. She attended Colorado Women's College in Denver and was a dental assistant from 1944 to 1948 and worked at Junction City Floral from 1948 to 1955. She married Dean Robert Cassity on June 17, 1948 in Junction City, Kansas.
Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where at one time she served as the treasurer of the Presbyterian Women, a member of PEO, AR Chapter, a member of the Melita Chapter of Eastern Star #116.
She is survived by one son, Arthur D. Cassity of Blue Springs, MO; one daughter, Erin Lea Cassity-Hales of Corpus Christi, TX; and one sister-in-law, Esther "Pat" Reid of Bella Vista, AR. She is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
