A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy A. Butler, 82, Junction City will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel 805 Caroline Ave., Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 6- 8 p.m. with a vigil service to be held at 7:30 p.m. followed by a parish rosary. Mrs. Butler passed away Friday afternoon at the Chapman Valley Manor in Chapman, Kansas. The family has requested that memorial contributions be given to St. Xavier Catholic Church, P.O. Box 399, Junction City, Kansas 66441 or to the Hospice at Geary Community Hospital c/o Geary Community Hospital Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 3015, Junction City, Kansas 66441.

Dorothy was born April 14, 1925, in Henderson, Kentucky the daughter of William and Rosealee ( Phillips ) McClure. Her mother passed away when she was an infant. Dorothy was raised by her maternal grandmother, great-grandmother, and extended family. She has resided in Junction City, Kansas since 1960.

Dorothy was a homemaker. She worked for Murphy Industries as a production worker having retired in 1990. She was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church where she served on the alter society; Life Member of the DAV Auxiliary. She was a former 4-H Leader. She attended Holy Names Schools in Henderson, Kentucky.

She married Hewitt I. Butler January 3, 1944, in Henderson, Kentucky. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Army Air Corp. He retired from the Civil Service at Fort Riley, Kansas. He passed away December 25, 2004.

Survivors include two sons, David Butler and his wife Karla of Junction City, Kansas; Jerry Butler and his wife Patty of Hutchinson, Kansas. One daughter, Teresa Metzger and her husband Mike of Edmond, Oklahoma. She is survived by six granddaughters, Niki, Krissi, Allison, Sara, Kaitlyn and Kacey.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hewitt, parents and several aunts and uncles.
