A funeral mass for Doris M. Pierson, 91, formerly of Junction City will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel 203 N. Washington Street. Fr. Al Brungardt will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Xavier Catholic Church P.O.Box 399 or to the Open Door 136 W. 3rd Street both in Junction City, KS. 66441.
Doris was born May 12, 1921, in Junction City, KS. the daughter of Arthur and Christine Artzer Wright.
Doris worked as a Paraprofessional in the Special Education Department at the Middle School for USD #475 for many years. She was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church where she was a member of Circle #3. She was also a member of the Eagle's Auxiliary #830.
She married Rex Pierson January 6, 1942, in Rockford, Ill. He passed away in January of 2009.
Survivors include her four children. Michael Pierson of Topeka, KS., Stephen Pierson of Hanover, KS., Janice Cribbs of Wichita, KS. and Rex Pierson of Junction City, KS. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one sister Irene Hinman of Topeka, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Helen, her husband Rex and a daughter Mary Beth.
