Doris J. Miller, 88, of Junction City, KS, passed May 16, 2020 at the Kenwood View Nursing Center, Salina, KS. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic services were delayed. A Celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, September 20, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating, graveside inurnment service will follow at Fort Riley Post Cemetery. Memorial contributions have been designated to the Junction City Animal Shelter, 2324 North Jackson Street, Junction City, KS 66441.
Doris was born January 13, 1932, Plaquemine, LA to John and Mary Ella (Booksh) Lewis.
She married McKinley Miller, Jr. August 23, 1953 and became a military wife. For a short period she worked as a lunch aide at Washington Elementary School before becoming a homemaker and raising her four children.She was a good mom to her children, she didn't like her children's picks in spouses, however she tolerated us all (HAHA). She wanted her entire family to know that she loved them very much.
Doris loved her dogs, reading, especially her Bible, sewing, gardening and riding her bike.
Doris is survived by her children, David Miller of Junction City, KS; Pamela (Cecil) Hardesty of Salina, KS; Barbara Parker of Junction City, KS and Mark (Rebecca) Miller of Hutchinson, KS; seven grandchildren and their families, Daniel (Lisa) Crawford, Raynah and McKinley of Junction City, KS; Tracie (Greg) Dessart, Noah, Lilli and Nehemiah of Seattle, WA; Ray Hardesty, Terric and Octavia of Salina, KS; Tabitha (Leroy) Krischer of Salina, KS; Ashley Parker, Elizabeth and Jaxon of Junction City, KS; Lance (Shadow) Miller, Tobin, Zoey and Piper of Hutchinson, KS; Casy (Anthony) Coble, Ellie, Maverick and Kinley of Hope, KS.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mckinley Miller, Jr. in 2006, daughter-in-law, Brenda Lee (Morrow) Miller, son-in-law, James E. Parker; one sister, six brothers, one great- grandson and one great-great grandson.
