Doreen Joyce Cromartie, 56, Junction City, KS passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013, 9 - 11 a.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted 2 pm the same day at the Kansas Veteran's Cemetery with Fr. Al Brungardt officiating. Doreen was born August 29, 1956, in Honolulu, Hawaii the daughter of Walter and Joyce (Ramos) Gouveia, Jr. She has lived in Junction City since 1987.
Doreen worked for FootLocker in Junction City for twenty years before she retired due to health reasons.
She married Linwood J. Cromartie February 25, 1981. He passed away October 11, 2012. Since the time of her husband's death, Doreen has been cared for by her sister Brenda Austin.
Survivors include her father Walter Gouveia, Jr. of Hilo, Hawaii. Other survivors include two sons, Mitchell T. Shelton and Narobie A. Shelton both of Kingsville, Texas. She is survived by her siblings Walter, Robert, Edmond, Brenda,Ervin and Mervin.
She was preceded in death by her Husband Linwood one son Tyron Shelton and her mother Joyce.
