Mrs. Johnson was born in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Providence Radiology School in 1973. She married her husband Gaylen in 1977 and had her first son, Zachariah, later that year. Donna, Gaylen and Zac then moved to Junction City in 1978 where she lived until 1988 when the family moved to rural Milford, KS. She gave birth to her second son, Nicholas, and started her career at Irwin Army Hospital working at the Radiology Department in 1981. She continued working at Irwin where she moved from radiology to the ultrasound/mammography department where she worked for the rest of her career. She enjoyed working with patients and helping to bring children into the world. Donna was later named Woman Employee of the Year for 2004 at Ft. Riley. In May of 2005 she retired from Irwin Army Hospital after 24 years of service due to health reasons.
Mrs. Johnson had a love for all things and enjoyed spending time with family and many close friends that she made throughout her years. She was active in several organizations including the Women's Auxiliary for the local 3309 Fire Department Union and the Immanuel Lutheran School Board. Her favorite hobbies included camping, gardening, cooking and watching Kansas City Chiefs football. Donna had a natural "green thumb" and plants thrived under her care. She lived by the "Golden Rule" and believed in the absolutes of forgiveness and love. Her legacy is left behind and remains alive in their family.
