Donna Lee Bowers, 86, of Junction City, died Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. Donna was born December 20, 1931 at Fairview, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Maude (Mink) Burnett. She attended schools in Hiawatha and graduated from Hiawatha High School in the Class of 1948.
She was a homemaker.
Donna married Edwin Bowers on October 14, 1950 in Hiawatha. Edwin survives. Other survivors include: 3 sons, Charles Bowers, Niantic, CT, David Bowers, Manhattan, and Gary Bowers, Little Elm, Texas; a daughter, Regina Best, Junction City; a brother, Paul Burnett, Topeka; a sister Helen Melster and husband Toby, Hiawatha; 7 grandchildren, Jason Berry and his wife Jennifer, Spring Hill, Jessica Berry, Junction City, Austin Bowers, Little Elm, TX, Skylar Bowers, Knoxville, TN, Chase Bowers, Ft. Bragg, NC, Ashley Parker, Ft. Lewis, WA, and Jennifer Bartlett-Nierodzik and her husband Ed, Tilden, Nebraska; a grandson-in-law, Gabriel Beruman, Junction City; and 11 great grandchildren, Gabriella, Ethan, Owen, Arturo, Ayana, Kaiden, Adalynne, Sierra, Khai, Kristi, and Wyatt.
Donna was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon (Pete) Burnett; 3 sisters, Vivian Ragan, Tillie Bailey, and Patricia Burnett; a granddaughter, Rachele Berumen.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 29, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Junction City, with Pastor Ronnie Roberts presiding. A committal service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Ft. Riley, Manhattan. The family will greet friends 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28th at Penwell-Gabel Junction City Funeral Chapel.
