Donald Melella, 68, Junction City, KS died Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka, KS. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2012, at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Joe Belardo officiating. Cremation has taken place.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Post #45, 201 E. 4th, Junction City, Kansas 66441 and to the Vietnam Veterans of America, North Central Kansas Chapter #344, P.O. Box 1492, Junction City, Kansas 66441.
Donald was born April 24, 1944, in Yonkers, NY. the son of Carmine and Anna (Kuzma) Melella.
Donald retired from the United States Army.
Survivors include two sons, Donald C. Melella, Jr. of Temple, TX and Michael S. Melella of Malmstrom, MT. He is survived by three daughters, Donna Ann Lyons of Lillington, NC., Cynthia L. Boots of Malmstrom, MT. and Hatsue Barbee of Chicago, Ill. He is also survived by one brother Stephan Melella and one sister Angie Ritchie. He has fourteen grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
