Donald J. Hannan, 84, of Junction City, died Nov. 30, 2014 at Centennial Homestead in Washington, KS. Donald was born July 14, 1930 at Alida, the son of Daniel and Minnie (Roediger) Hannan. Donald attended schools at Alida.
Donald was a police officer in Junction City for many years and then became Director of Public Works for Junction City. He later sold equipment for Barco Co, which marketed equipment to municipalities. Donald was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Eagles Lodge, and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Donald married Roberta "Bert" Jarrard on March 23, 1951 at Sutphen Mill. She preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 2010. Survivors include: 2 daughters, Cyndi Bell and husband Joseph, Clarksville, Ohio, and Tamara (Tami) Love and husband Anthony, Junction City; a brother, Jack Hannan and wife Yvonne, Junction City; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Garrison, Jeremy Bell, Jonathan Bell, Travis Hannan, and Joshua Hopper; and 10 great-grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a brother, Carl Hannan.
Funeral service outside of Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, with Fr. Peter O'Donnell presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A visitation will be Wed., Dec. 3, 2014, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m., all at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, Junction City.
