A graveside service with full military honors will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2009, at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery for SGM (Ret) Donald S. Carnahan, 80, Junction City, Kansas. United States Army Chaplain Dave Anderson will officiate. Mr. Carnahan passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association, 2400 Troost Ave., Ste 4300 Kansas City, MO. 64108-2842. Arrangements are under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel.
Donald was born July 13, 1928, in Tulsa, Oklahoma the son of Chester and Ida (Stephens) Carnahan.
Donald retired from the United States Army November 30, 1980. After retirement, he worked for ASK Association as an instructor. He was a member of the Armed Forces E9 Association. He was a member of the NRA and the Sportsman Acres.
He married Elisabeth Heide December 31, 1955, in Mainz, Germany. She survives of the home in Junction City.
Other survivors include two sons, James Paul Carnahan of Akron, Ohio and Michael Donald Carnahan of Junction City, Kansas. He is survived by one sister Janet Crosby and five grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Ashley, Aaron and Joshua. He is also survived by one great granddaughter Ella.
