Graveside services for Donald Thomas Browning, 53, of Junction City will be held at 10a.m., Monday, November 7, 2011, at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, 5181 Wildcat Creek Rd., Manhattan, KS, with full military honors. US Army Chaplain David Lockhart will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2~4 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt, 805 Caroline Ave. Mr. Browning passed away November 3, 2011, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. Memorial contributions have been designated to the American Heart Association,5375 W. 7th, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
Donald was born on December 1, 1957, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho the son of Charles Willard and Shirley Jean (Hike) Browning. He graduated from Barton County Community College with an Associate's Degree and from Upper Iowa University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Donald served in the United States Army and retired in 1998 as the rank of First Sergeant. Donald was a lifetime member of the American Legion and was an active member of the American Legion Riders. He was also a member of the Non-Commissioned Officers Association.
Don married Wilma Christine Lindsey on August 20, 1983, in Irving, Texas. She survives of the home in Junction City.
Other survivors include one son, Jeremiah James Browning of Junction City and one daughter, Mandy Browning-Lewis of Atlanta, GA and a future daughter-in-law Jesse Peterson of Junction City. He is survived by one brother, Larry Browning of Greenville, SC and two sisters, Charlotte Haubensack of Coeur d'Alene, ID and Susan Kimsey of Texline, TX. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Mailonda, JaCynthia, Mahaylia and Trey Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Chuck Browning.
