Dennis E. Parker, Sr.

Dennis E. Parker, Sr., 59, long time Junction City resident, passed away Monday, 4 Feb 2008, at Mercy Regional Hospital, Manhattan, KS, after a long battle with heart disease and other complications. Cremation is planned. A Memorial Service will be held at 6pm Friday, February 8, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline, Junction City, KS with Dennis E. Parker, Jr., Ralph Strauss and David Mangrum officiating. Memorial contributions may be made American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601.

He served his country in the US Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and a Purple Heart.

After leaving military service, Dennis worked at various local jobs. His last assignment was with DEH, Roads and Grounds, Fort Riley, KS. He suffered a serious accident at home which disabled him and consequently he retired from Federal Service in 1994.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy Parker; son Dennis Parker, Jr., and daughter Shannon (Casper) Yeargin, brother, Vernon Dale Parker, and grandchildren Jordan A Parker, Ronald Wilson, David Gulley, Jr, and Keegan Riley Parker, all of Kansas.
