Funeral services for Denivel "Dee" Grant, Jr., 53, of Junction City will be Saturday, February 26, 2005, 11 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel with Pastor Dorothy Garland officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February 25, 2005, 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Mr. Grant passed away at Geary Community Hospital February 21, 2005. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, Heartland Division, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64105 and/or the American Diabetes Association, Memorial & Honor Program, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.
Mr. Grant was born March 4, 1951, Junction City, KS to Denivel and Connie (Oakry) Grant, Sr. He graduated from Junction City High School where he was a outstanding football player and a member of the track team. He was baptized in 2004 at the Pentecostal Church. Mr. Grant worked for USD 475 through J C Transportation as a bus driver until he medically retired. He was a member of the Community Outreach Ministry. He was quiet and well liked, he touched everyones heart that he came in contact with.
He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Jewel Reed of Junction City, KS, two step-children, his mother, Connie Grant, five sisters; Carolyn Grant, Trixie J. Grant, Donna Ruth Brown, Kathy Sue Carthen and LaVerne Lucas, three brothers; William J. Wilson, Jimmy Grant, Tryone S. Grant, six step-grandchildren, one step-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father.
