Delores Mae (Whitson) Marcus

Graveside inurnment services for Delores Mae (Whitson) Marcus, 76, of Parsons, KS will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2010 at Highland Cemetery with Vicar Chris Schultz officiating. Cremation has taken place no visitation is planned. Mrs. Marcus passed away on August 4, 2010 at Labette Health. Memorial Contributions have been designated to the American Diabetes Association, 10580 Barkley, Suite 400, Overland Park, KS. 66212.

Delores was born June 12, 1934 to Carl Clyde & Ruth Nina (Horn) Whitson in Parsons, Kansas. She was raised there until her family moved to Junction City when she was in the sixth grade.

On October 28, 1951 she and George E. Marcus were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Junction City. She returned to Parsons in 1993. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Junction City and later the First Baptist Church in Parsons. She enjoyed oil painting, reading and watching old movies.

She is survived by her husband George E. Marcus, Sr., of the home, five sons, George & Gloria Marcus of Junction City, KS, Michael & Cyndi Marcus of Williamsburg, VA, Steven & Sharon Marcus of Parsons, KS, Gregory & Sherri Marcus of Topeka, KS, and Patrick & Dee Marcus of Edgerton, KS, twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a brother Myron Welton of NE, two sisters, Evelyn Fegan of Paola, KS and Lynette Bright of Manhattan, KS.

She was preceded in death by two brothers; Charles Whitson and Jerry Whitson and two infant grandsons; Christopher Marcus and Dylan Marcus and infant great-granddaughter, Madelyn Dae Rohr.
