Funeral Services for Delbert M. Oesterreich, 83, Woodbine, KS will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2006 at Woodbine United Methodist Church with Reverend Marilyn Cox officiating, burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Mr. Oesterreich passed away January 18, 2006 at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Woodbine Methodist Church, Woodbine, KS 67492 or to the Woodbine Lions Club, Woodbine, KS 67492.
Delbert was born October 26, 1922 in Woodbine, KS the son of Clifton and Minnie (Heibert) Oesterreich, where he resided all his life. Except for his two year service in the US Army during World War II, Delbert was a farmer stockman until his stroke in 1999. He was also employed at the Junction City Livestock Sale Barn from the 1970's until the early 1990's and did carpentry work with Jesse Riffel, Jr. Delbert was a life long member of Woodbine United Methodist Church, 30 year member of the Woodbine Lions Club and served on the Lyon's Creek Watershed District for 20 years.
Delbert married Maxine Kind of the Lyon community in June of 1948; she preceded him in death in 1973. He then married Mary Oberg Peck, White City in 1980, she survives.
Other survivors include James Oesterreich, Colby, KS, John Oesterreich, Junction City, KS, and Teresa Oesterreich, Orlando, FL; brother Eldon Oesterreich, Woodbine, KS, step-son Nolan Peck, White City KS, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Reed Garrett, Rowe Garrett, Willis Garrett, William Kind, Brian Shippy and Rodney Knopp.
Honorary pallbearers Marshall & Faye Heath, Paul & Helen Timm, Dale & Fern Gantenbein, Orville & Loren Bruner, and Loren & Gladys Peck.
Organist will be Margaret Garrett.
