Debra K. Beem, 72, of Junction City, passed away on October 12, 2021. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Highland Baptist Church, 1407 St. Mary's Road, Junction City, KS with Pastor Dave Martin and Pastor Brad Seifert officiating. Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
She was born on April 2, 1949, North Platte, Nebraska to Robert and Valerie (Hall) Traphagan. Deb graduated from Naper High in Naper, NE in 1967. On December 29, 1964 she married Norman Beem, they were married for 57 years. They had four children, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and many more children and grandchildren through her church.
She was an accountant for many years and loved it, and used her skills to minister in various ways. Deb spent many years volunteering her time and talents. She volunteered at the hospital, pregnancy center, and her church, touching many lives. She loved God and people. Deb read and studied her Bible daily. She left journals with so many verses from the Bible, lists of people she prayed for including America and our soldiers, prayers she prayed, letters to God and her insight on God's word.
When she felt there was an injustice, she wrote to the local paper to stand up for what was morally right. She supported her church, St. Baldrick's foundation to cure childhood cancer and St. Jude's. She loved people and people loved her. She shared the love of Christ with many people during her lifetime. Deb made an impact on the people she met and her love will live through them. Deb went home to be with Jesus on October 12, 2021.
Debra is survived by her husband Norm, four children, Tim (Brenda) Beem, Karen Gooding, Bonnie (Scott) Lane and Kevin (Teri) Beem; one brother, Robert (Joan) Traphagan, one sister, Diane Groff, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Sarah Traphagan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dan Traphagan.
