Deacon W. Lacy

May 20, 1927 — July 17, 2018

Deacon Albert W. Lacy, 91, of Junction City, passed away peacefully at 8:00 p.m. on July 17, 2018 at Valley View Senior Life Center. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home 203 N. Washington Street. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Second Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Larry E. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.

He was born May 20, 1927, in Troup, Texas the son of Samuel and Amanda (Watkins) Lacy.

Mr. Lacy completed his education in Texas. He attended the University of Prairie View Texas and graduated with a B.S. Degree in 1949. He served twenty two years in the United States Army having retired as a Sergeant First Class with the position of a Orthopedic Technologist. After retiring from the Army, he worked for the Southern California Medical Group and retired as a Senior Orthopedic Technologist. He was a member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church in Junction City where he served as Chairman of the Usher Board, member of the Trustee Board and was the chosen member of the Deacon Board. Mr. Lacy also was a member of the KAW Blue Lodge #107 of Manhattan, Kansas. He served as the Potentate of the Oasis Temple #29 in Topeka, Kansas and was an Advisor to the Oasis Court #44 in Topeka.

He met Laura E. "Dark Eyes" Wright in Newport News, Virginia. He later married Laura on April 1, 1952, in Newport News, Virginia. She passed away January 21, 2017.

Albert is survived by two grandchildren, Harold D. Lacy Jr. of Wichita, Kansas and Thula Lacy of Topeka, Kansas; one nephew, Richard Lacy and his wife Mary of Dallas, Texas; two nieces, Lana Joyce King of San Diego, California and Turea Brown of Herne, Texas. He is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, wife Laura, one son Harold Lacy, Sr.,

Mr. Lacy was a kind and humble person who loved the Lord and will be missed by all.
