David Lee, 61, Junction City, died on September 8, 2012 at his residence in Junction City. Cremation has taken place with the assistance of the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel of Junction City. A graveside inurnment will take place at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, 5181 Wildcat Creek Road with full military honors. A repass will be held following the service at 3:00 PM at the VFW Post 8773 in Junction City, KS. Memorial contributions have been designated to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Dr., Topeka, KS 66604.
David was born on September 18, 1950 in Birmingham, AL.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict and was honorably discharged on November 29, 1988. On November 29, 2000, David married Janet Lee Holt in Junction City, KS.
He worked for many years as a custodian for the USD 475 public school system.
David is survived by his mother, Mary F. Sadler of Tarrytown, NY, his wife, Janet Lee of Junction City, KS; by one son, David Earl Lee, Jr, and by two stepchildren, Marcia D. Ferguson of Seattle, WA and Sherman T. Foster of Wichita Falls, TX, his sister, Natalie Sadler of Memphis, TN, two brothers, Ronald Sadler of Lexington, KY and Donald Sadler.
He is also survived by 3 sisters-in-law, Linda D. Green and Darla J. Pippins of Columbus, MS; Deborah R. Wooten of Junction City and by 3 brothers-in-law, Curtis L. Wooten and Joel J. Holt of Junction City and Stanton S. Holt of Lansing, KS. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father.
