Funeral Services for Darren Dale Murphy, 44, Junction City, will be 10:00am Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel with Pastor Rick Marrs officiating. Burial will follow at Wreford Cemetry. Darren passed away July 15, 2006. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm Friday July 21, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mass- Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline. Darren Dale Murphy was born September 1, 1961, in Russell, Kansas. Darren passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2006. He was 44 years old.
Darren graduated from Junction City High School in 1980. He attended Kansas State University on a track scholarship. Mr. Murphy joined the Marines in 1982 and received a MOS Avionics Technician Certificate. He then attended Manhattan Vo-Tech School, receiving a Computer Repair Diploma in 1987. He moved to San Jose, California where he was a Field Service Engineer for the Scientific Research Management Corporation. Mr. Murphy returned to Kansas City, Missouri in 1992 to work in computer repair and technical support with the Cerner Corporation. Mr. Murphy was ill for many years. After receiving a heart transplant in 1996, he returned to Junction City.
Survivors include his parents: E. Darwin and Betty Murphy; two sisters: Mrs. Kathy Upham and husband, Kenny and Mrs. Cindy Gardner and husband, Mike; one brother: Mr. Darrel Murphy and wife, Kay, all of Junction City; one grandmother: Mrs. Mae Murphy of Osborne, Kansas.Other survivors include four nieces, seven nephews, two great-nieces, and two great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Upham, Jr., Zach Upham, Daniel Upham, Matthew Gardner, Micah Gardner, Dustin Fisher, and Austin Murphy.
