Memorial services for Darrel R. Walker, 45, of Junction City, KS will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor James Callaway officiating. Inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery. No visitation is planned. Darrel passed away due to Huntington's Chorea on October 11, 2011 at the Harry Hyne's Hospice Center, Wichita, KS. Cremation has taken place with the assistance of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.
Memorial contributions have been designated to the First Baptist Church, 624 N. Jefferson Street, Junction City, KS 66441 and the Harry Hyne's Hospice, 929 N. St. Francis, Wichita, KS 67214.
Darrel was born September 6, 1966, Okinawa, Japan to Forrest E. and Shirley (Stierwalt) Wilburn Walker. He was a graduate of Junction City High School class of 1984. After graduation he attended Kansas State University and received his Bachelor's of Science degree in Communications.
He worked for Central National Bank, TCI Cable and Junction City Distributing and Vending. He loved to read and was very involved in Karate and Kung Fu which he received a black belt.
He is survived by his mother Shirley of Junction City, three uncles, Robert Wilburn and wife Pat, Melvin Wilburn all of Junction City and Martin Larson of Abilene, great-uncle, Joe Knox of Chapman, KS and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, his maternal grandparents, William and Katherine Wilburn and his paternal grandparents.
