Funeral services for Darleen E. Lucas, 86, of Junction City were held today at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating. A private family burial will be held at Antioch Cemetery, Frankfort, KS. Visitation was held from 12 p.m. until time of the service at the church. Mrs. Lucas passed away on December 16, 2008 at Chapman Valley Manor. Memorial contributions have been designated to the Alzheimer's Association, Heart of America Chapter, 4125 SW Gage Center Drive, Ste LL-15, Topeka, KS 66604 and/or First Christian Church, 1429 St. Mary's Road, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mrs. Lucas was born October 2, 1922, St. Edward, NE to Milo and Freda (Berg) Summers, she graduated from Frankfort High School in 1940. She married John Thomas Lucas, Jr. January 1, 1941 they moved to Junction City in 1953. Mrs. Lucas went to work for the City of Junction City May 6, 1957 as the Supervisor of the Computer and Water Department and was also the City Clerk, she retired June 30, 1987. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Gamma Phi Chapter Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.
She is survived by her daughter Connie and husband Jerry Frakes of Junction City, three grandchildren; J.B and wife Paige Frakes of Charlotte, NC, Kelly and wife Gail Frakes of Topeka, KS and Robin and husband Jim Downing of Humboldt, IA and six great-grandchildren; Nick, Austin and Holly Frakes of Topeka, KS and Kayla, Carley and Lucas Downing of Humboldt, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John and one sister; Ramona Maas.
