Daniela G. "Nellie" Lanning, 62, of Junction City, KS, passed away on July 28, 2019.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home of Junction City with Pastor Brad Seifert officiating.
Visitation will be held after services from 3:00 pm. to 5:00 pm. at the Johnson Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the services.
Nellie was born on July 22, 1957, in Dib-dib Dalaguete, Cebu, Philippines to Crispin and Veronica Calisang Gamboa. She immigrated to the United States in the 1980's, and on March 6, 1982 she married a young sailor named Roger Lanning. Together with his military commitment, they traveled to many duty stations and ultimately called Junction City, Kansas their home where she worked at Footlocker for over 20 years.
Nellie was proud of her culture and was a member of the Filipino-American Club where she acted as treasurer for many years. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, loving on her grandchildren, and caring for her many plants.
She was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
Nellie is survived by her loving family: husband, Roger; her son Giovanie Gamboa and his wife Mary Ann Gamboa, her daughters Misty Whetstine, Melissa May and her husband Zackary May, and Brittany Gandhi and her husband Vikas Gandhi; her grandchildren, Tristin Whetstine, Ian Gamboa, Morgann Whetstine, Trenton Whetstine, Maleah Batista, Luna May, Sybelle May, and Evelynn May; her siblings from Cebu City, Philippines; Leopoldo Gamboa, Estrelia Enalin, Nick Gamboa, Ricky Gamboa, Sally Gamboa and Crispin Gamboa Jr.; and a host of loving friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her father in law William Alvin Lanning.
