Funeral services for Dale Jellison Weary, 85, Junction City, will be 2 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Matthew Glasgow officiating. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery. A visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday, February 29, 2008, at the Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Ave. Mrs. Weary passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2008.

Dale was born August 21, 1922, in Laray, Kansas the daughter of Arthur Dale and Maude Sarah (Gifford) Jellison.
Dale graduated from the Junction City High School, in 1940. She attended Ward Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated with a degree in piano studies in 1942. She married Robert K. Weary on May 7, 1944 at Santa Rosa, California and subsequently graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor's degree in Music in 1946. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority while attending the University of Kansas.
Long a contributor to the social and arts community of her hometown, she also was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Junction City where she served as Director of the Children's Junior Choir for many years. She was an active member of many organizations, including the Ladies Reading Club, P.E.O., and the Junction City Little Theatre. Over the years, she taught both piano and voice to many area students.
Dale was a member of the Board of Directors of the Jellison Benevolent Society, whose purpose is to award scholarships to Kansas students. She and her late husband, Robert K. Weary also supported in numerous large and small ways the arts throughout the state. They endowed in 1992 the Dale Jellison Weary Scholarship Fund for undergraduate and graduate fine arts students who have financial need. Additional endowments were given to K.U.'s Lied Center Performance Fund and to create the Alexander Spiritship Fund which was designed to bring guest artists to KU to serve as role models for minority students in university theatre productions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur D. and Maude S. Jellison, and her beloved husband, Robert K. Weary.
She is survived by her three children, Robert K. Weary , Jr. of Evergreen, CO; daughters; Gifford Weary of Columbus, OH and Dale Ann Clore of Manhattan, KS. She is also survived by her twin sister Dorothy Jellison Cassity and brother-in-law Dean Cassity; two son-in-laws, David Angelo and Bob Clore, one daughter-in-law, Nancy Weary; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren.
