Funeral services for Daisy Irene Gage, 83, of Junction City will be Friday, September 7, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue with Pastor James Callaway officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, September 6, 2007, 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Gage died August 29, 2007 at Abilene Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, Heart of America Chapter, 4125 SW Gage Center Dr., Ste. LL-15, Topeka, KS 66604 and/or Hospice of Dickinson County, P.O. Box 69, Abilene, KS 67410.
Daisy Irene Gage was born on August 31, 1923 to Lawson and Lasbell
(Roberson) Willie in Eufaula, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by
both parents; two sisters, Viola Kizine and Clara Belle Jett; and one
brother, McClinton Willie.
Daisy and Lee James Gage were united in marriage on November 30, 1944 in
Cheyenne, Wyoming and four daughters were born into this union. Daisy
and Lee have been married sixty-two years and are lifetime residents of
Junction City, Kansas.
Daisy received Jesus as her Savior in 1934 and was baptized in the
Huttonville Church, Huttonville, Okalahoma. She loved the Lord and was a
devout mother and homemaker. In 1972, she rededicated her life to the
Lord and became a member of the First Church of God, Junction City,
Kansas under the pastorate of Pastor Alvin Lewis. She was an active
member in the choir and in the mission's department. She was a faithful
member until her health began to fail and she became homebound. She
enjoyed cooking, music, planting flowers, bird watching, and reading the
Bible.
Our Heavenly Father called her home on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at the
Memorial Hospital, Abilene, Kansas.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Lee, of the home and their
four daughters; Larraine Shingleton (James) of Harvest, Alabama, Sheryl
M. Woodruff (Thomas) of Topeka, Kansas, Brenda J. Gage, and Barbara A.
Souza (Robert) both of Junction City, Kansas; one brother-in-law,
Clarence Jett of Eufaula, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Marjorie White of
Rockford, Illinois; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren;
one great great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and
friends.
Pallbearers will be Andre E. Brown, David N. Hernandez, Jaylen A. Mason, Maurice D. Shingleton, Fonseca D. Woodruff, Thomas W. Woodruff, Jr., James O. Shingleton and Santeni White.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deven T. Hernandez, Michael L. Shingleton and Robert G. Souza
