Services for CW4 Lawrence W. Nagle, 83, of Junction City will be Thursday, February 3, 2005 at 10 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Covenant with Father Dale Plummer officiating. Burial will be at Fort Riley Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 2, 2005, 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Mr. Nagle passed away at his home on January 29, 2005. Memorial contributions may be given to the Episcopal Church of the Covenant, 314 N. Adams, Junction City, KS 66441 and/or The Homecare & Hospice Foundation, 323 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502.
Mr. Nagle was born May 5, 1921, Amsbury, PA to William Sylvester and Margret Blondine (Carly) Nagle. He retired from the U S Army in 1974 after serving more than 34 years. During World War II he served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), and Central Europe. He also served in Korea, Okinawa and two tours in Viet Nam.
He married Doris M. Hood, October 11, 1941 in Junction City, KS, she survives of the home.
He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Covenant. He was also a member of the Eagles, #830 and Modern Woodmen. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and spending time with his family.
He is survived by one daughter, Anita (Nagle) Hernandez and husband David of Milford, KS, one son, Edward Nagle and wife Cathy (Hughes) of Junction City, KS, one brother, Clarence Paul Nagle of Altoona, PA, five grandchildren, David, Joseph and Elizabeth Hernandez, Sara and Joel Nagle and one great-granddaughter, Isabel (Miller) Hernandez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Irvin and Herman Nagle and Earl (Nagle) Stoltz and one infant sister, Floretta Nagle.
Pallbearers will be Fort Riley Honor Guard
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gene Kane, Clarence Nagle, Steve Kane, Gene Hughes, Richard Hood, Bobby Nagle and David Nagle
Vocalist will be Joan Keating. Organist will be Ramona Printz-Smith.
