Curtis L. Van Nahmen, 60, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at St. Mary's Cemetery with Fr. Frank Coady officiating. A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021, at the Johnson Funeral Home with the rosary prayed at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the Good Shepherd Hospice House.
Curtis was born April 16, 1961, in Wakeeney, KS, the son of LeeRoy Henry and Clarabel Laurene (McMullen) Van Nahmen.
Curtis graduated from St. Xavier Catholic High School with the class of 1979. After graduating from high school, he went to work for Western Construction Company. Later he joined Abbott Construction Company where he worked until he went to work for the City of Junction City. Curtis spent the largest part of his career working for Geary County as the road and bridge supervisor until his retirement. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and cooking. Curtis enjoyed visiting family farms in western Kansas. Curtis was an avid Wildcat and Kansas City Chiefs Football fan.
Survivors include three daughters, Clarissa Hanson and her husband Harold of Junction City, KS, Chelsea Mendez and her husband Nick of Littleton, CO and Cierra Van Nahmen of Kansas City, MO; four granddaughters, Willow, Josephine, Oakley and Elizabeth; his mother, Clarabel Van Nahmen of Junction City, KS; one sister, Cheryl Ibarra and her husband Ray of Junction City, KS and a host of nieces, cousins and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
