CSM (Ret.) Raymond D. Coade Jr., 90, of Junction City, KS, passed away on June 15, 2019. Johnson Funeral Home of Junction City, KS is assisting family with cremation arrangements.
A committal service at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, 5181 Wildcat Creek Road, Manhattan, KS, is scheduled for 10:00am Friday June 28, 2019 followed by a Celebration of Life Ceremony at the Episcopal Church of the Covenant, 314 N. Adams Street, Junction City, KS at 11:30am.

Raymond was born on August 14, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York to Raymond and Dorothy (Cordell) Coade, Sr. As a young man he joined the United States Army. During his time in the military, he married Wally Kratz. They had two children, and the small family traveled to many duty stations with him. Raymond proudly served over 20 years to retire as a Command Sergeant Major (CSM) at Fort Riley, Kansas, where he and his family have since called home. His military decorations include but are not limited to: the Bronze Star Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal with 1st Oak Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star (2), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device, and an Overseas Service Bar (1).
After retirement, Raymond went on do work in various occupations. In his off time, he enjoyed traveling, camping, and building model train sets. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Covenant of Junction City, Kansas. Above all, Raymond was a loving husband, caring father, adoring grandfather, and doting great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family. He will be dearly missed.
Raymond is survived by his loving family: granddaughter, Brandi L. (husband Jeff) Petrel of Mineral Wells, TX; grandson, Christopher Coade of Goddard, KS; great-granddaughter, Madison A. Coade; daughter-in-law, Linda Coade of Mineral Wells, TX; and a host of loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wally S. Coade, daughter, Karen Ann Coade, son, Frederick W. Coade, his parents, Dorothy Marie Coade-Weghorst and Raymond D. Coade Sr., and sister, Joan M. Prusinowski-Lupo.
