Memorial Services for CSM (retired) Milton Edward Gray, Sr. 83, Junction City, will be 1 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2006 at the Church Of Our Savior United Methodist Church with Rev. Joyce Allen officiating. Inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery with full military honors. No visitation is planned. Mr. Gray passed away on February 5, 2006 at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Milton, as he was affectionately called, was born October 2, 1922 in Atlanta, GA, the son of Earl H. and Mary Louisa (White) Gray, was educated in the Atlanta Public School System. Upon graduating from Booker T. Washington High School he matriculated at Morehouse College in Atlanta. Milton decided to leave Morehouse after completing two years and he then pursued a career in the US Army. He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict and retired as a Command Sergeant Major after 24 years of service . He was member of American Legion Post #45, VFW Post 8773, prior member of Masonic Lodge # 91, AF&AM, and Prince Hall past District Deputy and Grand Master.
Milton lived in Atlanta for a short time prior to his death. where he was cared for by his nieces. He is survived by his daughter Mary L. Gray, two sisters-in law, Anna M. Gray and Juanita Gray, five nieces, Altoise (Tina) Lamar, Rev. and Mrs. Annah Westbrook, both of Atlanta, GA, Karen Gray, Donna Cunningham, and Karla Boynton of Detroit, MI, and several great nieces and nephews, and special friend and companion, Mrs. Thelma Thompson of Junction City, KS.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hanayo Gray on November 19, 1999, son Milton Edward Gray, Jr., three brothers Benjamin, Emmett, and George and his only sister, Mary Kathleen Tate. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
