Consiglia "Connie" Mancinelli, 67, of Junction City, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Geary Community Hospital. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Marys Cemetery, Junction City.
Connie was born April 1, 1950 to Enrico and Anna Mucci. Growing up in the mountainous town of Monteodorisio, Italy, she was raised in a traditional Italian family with a hard-working farming background. When she was a teen, the family moved to Philadelphia to build the American Dream. Once in the United States, Connie dedicated herself to learning English, finishing her high school education at a challenging girls' school.
Connie met Richard Mancinelli in Philadelphia and married a few years later. Together, they raised three children: Richard Jr., Leilani, and Christian. In 1985, the family moved to Junction City, as Richard Sr. served as an officer in the Army Corps of Engineers. As soon as the children were old enough to attend school, Connie began building her career. She gained valuable experience in advertisement sales the local radio station, KJCK. An entrepreneur at heart, Connie started purchasing and managed local commercial and residential properties, having a hand in numerous businesses around Junction City. Over the years, her businesses included apartments, a liquor store, a check cashing store, and many more business ventures.
Even while raising three children, managing properties, and overseeing businesses, Connie had a passion for travel. It was of utmost importance for her to remain close with family, making numerous trips with the children to Italy and Philadelphia. She also traveled throughout Europe, Egypt, and Mexico, finding inspiration from each country for art and home décor. Connie also enjoyed gardening and preparing elaborate traditional meals for family during holidays and birthdays.
Connie was proud of each of her three grandchildren--Sophia, Ian, and Carmine--and enjoyed telling stories about her childhood in Italy. In recent years, she aspired to take a relaxing beach vacation; however, she was so focused on upcoming business opportunities that she never got the chance. She always went the extra mile to help others whenever possible, putting the needs of others before her own. Although her time on this planet was cut short, Connie's kind-hearted, generous spirit will forever live on through her loved ones and others she touched.
Survivors include two Sons, Christian Mancinelli and Richard Mancinelli; and one Daughter, Leilani Mancinelli.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Errico and Anna Mucci.
