Connie Dowdall passed away on July 11, 2018 at Geary Community Hospital at the age of 80. She was surrounded by her family. Cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the First Christian Church of Junction City, with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating. (~Please have any flower deliveries sent directly to the church.~)
She was born July 7, 1938 to Lawrence and Hazel (Olds) DeLay in Junction City, KS. She had one brother, Larry DeLay.
Connie graduated from Junction City High School in 1956. She was a member of the First Christian Church and was baptized in 1948.
On May 18, 1964 she married the love of her life and High School Sweetheart, Donald Dowdall. They had four daughters: Kathy, Cheri, Donna, and Kim. She traveled with her husband and family to numerous places, including Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Thailand due to Donald's Military career. Upon his retirement from the Military they settled back in Junction City.
In 1977 she opened Connie's Western Wear, located in Junction City. She also opened a second location in Hutchinson, KS. For a brief time she owned Flinthills Country Bar in Grandview Plaza. She owned and managed L & H Trailer Court in Junction City for several years. She then worked for Junghans Agency as Property Manager for Ashton Place Apartments and Four Seasons Mobile Home Court, also owning and managing her own personal rentals. She retired in 2003.
Connie enjoyed fishing, boating, going to the casinos, and spending time with her friends and family. She always enjoyed helping with the organizing of her class reunions.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, and granddaughter Rachele Bowers Berumen.
She is survived by her husband Donald of Milford; daughter Kathy (Bill) Jones of Junction City, granddaughter Michelle (Mike) Wachsnicht, great grandsons Drew and Ben all of St. Louis, MO; daughter Cheri (Don) Robertson of Junction City, grandson in law Gabriel Berumen and great grandchildren Gabriella, Arturo, Ethan, Owen, and Ayana all of Junction City, granddaughter Tonya Goddard of Henderson, TN, grandsons William Stambaugh of Amarillo, TX and Shay Robertson of San Diego, CA; daughter Donna Bates of Alta Vista, grandson Brandon Buckner of Alta Vista, great granddaughters Reese Vanausdall of San Antonio, TX and Madeline of Wichita, KS, granddaughter Brittany (Mark) Clark of Milford; daughter Kim (Brian) Moast, granddaughters Jessica, Megan, and Kristen all of Fords, NJ; and numerous family and friends.
