Clarence Edward Thomas, 63, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, KS. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2020, at the Second Missionary Baptist Church. Cremation will follow the service. Mr. Thomas will lie in state 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2020, at the Johnson Funeral Home.
Clarence was born April 20, 1957, the son of Clarence Daniels and Joan Thomas.
Clarence served in the United States Army. He later went to work for the City of Junction City as the Park and Recreation Director for over thirty years. He later worked as a corrections officer with the Geary County Sheriff's Department. One of his greatest hobbies was working in his yard and garden. He was a member of the International Society of Arboriculture.
He married Sharon Washington March 31, 1978.
Survivors left to mourn his loss are his wife Sharon of the home in Junction City, KS; one son, Curtis Thomas of Junction City, KS. and one daughter, Amanda Thomas of Dallas, TX; his mother, Joan Thomas of Muskogee, OK; one sister, Alicia Douglas of Los Angeles, CA and two grandchildren and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Kimberly Johnson and his grandparents E.W. and Lula Pearl Thomas.
