Chul Su Yi, 64, of Topeka, KS formerly of Junction City, KS passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016. He was diagnosed with Ampullary Cancer (liver), and struggled for over a year without any treatment.
He was born December 15, 1951, in Seoul, South Korea the son of Tae San and Yang Lim (Kim) Yi. He received his general studies in Korea and attended Kansas State University. Chul was a former salesman for Yamaha Pianos in South Korea.
He established residency in Junction City through his sister and former brother-in-law SFC James Cooper, who served in the U S Army. He was a former assembly worker at Mobile Travelers in Junction City and was a past member of Junction Full Gospel Church, where he played guitar in the church choir.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Yi and her husband, Alan La and step-granddaughter of Carrollton, TX; one sister, Ok Su Campagnone and her husband, Louis of Junction City and one brother, Kon Cha Yi and niece, Linda Yi of California; nephew, Jerry Cooper and niece, Dianne Cooper of Junction City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street, Junction City, KS. Memorial services will be Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Junction Full Gospel Church, inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel and Penwell-Gabel Funeral home are assisting with arrangements.
