Christopher Joel Backman, 44, of Junction City, passed from this life on Friday, August 3, 2012, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS at 10:44 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the Faith Tabernacle Church, 1010 Burke Drive in Junction City. A visitation for Christopher will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2012, at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions have been designated to the Faith Tabernacle Church, 1010 Burke Drive, Junction City, KS 66441.
Chris was born on August 30, 1967 in Charleston, S.C. to the late Joseph E. and the late Julia M.C. Backman. On June 10, 2005 he married Darlisa Gates-Hill, who survives.
He is survived by two children- Joseph M.T. and Janiya F. Backman along with two sisters, Pamela D. Brown (Albert) of Charleston S.C. and Patrya Barnes (Christopher) of Junction City, KS. He has also left behind a mother-in-law Pamela Hill as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Chris served in the U.S. Military at Fort Riley, KS and was a proud disabled American veteran. He was an employee of Department of Logistics as a Personal Property Inspector. He will be sorely missed by all.
