Chong Sun "Margaret" Rainwater
Chong Sun "Margaret" Rainwater, 78, died July 11, 2016 at her home in Junction City. She was born April 20, 1938 into a Korean family while living in Hokkaido, Japan, the third of eight children. The family moved to Taejon, Korea, when she was 13. She later married a US soldier, and became a United States citizen on March 24, 1971.
Margaret was an active member of the First Southern Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. For over 30 years she worked at Whitaker Wire Company in Junction City. After retirement, she was active at the Junction City Senior Center where she enjoyed singing with the "Troubadours" chorus. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener who generously shared her produce.
Margaret married Jerold Rainwater February 24, 1986 in Junction City. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2010. Survivors include a son, Max Divine and his wife Trudy, Kansas City, MO, and four grandsons, Connor, Ethan, Gage and Cole Divine.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2016 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 1220 W. 8th Street in Junction City. Viewing will be immediately before the service. Burial will follow at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Ft. Riley at Manhattan, KS.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church Music Dept. Penwell-Gabel Junction City Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
